Meet Smoke, a wonderful old soul who's ready to find his happily ever after. This gentle giant has had a rough go of it, but you'd never know it from his sweet and easygoing nature - he's a true gentleman, kind to everyone he meets. Smoke is both leash and crate trained, and while he's fine on leash walks or taking a quick break in a yard with a 4-foot fence, he doesn't need much more activity than that - he's slow-paced and just looking for a quiet, loving place to land. Smoke gets along famously with cats (he lives with two who seem to think they're Pyrs themselves) and does well with other dogs too, living alongside both a male and female in his foster home. He'd also be perfectly content as an only dog. He's been exposed to plenty of new people and takes it all in stride, and he's great with kids, having spent plenty of time with 7- and 5-year-old children. Smoke doesn't dig, rarely barks, and much prefers being inside with his people. What he loves most is simply being close to the ones he loves - napping, getting brushed, soaking up pets, and having someone around. He’s flexible when it comes to his ideal home: he's happy with kids, cats, other dogs, and new faces. At the end of the day, Smoke is a gentleman through and through, and quite simply, one of the best of the gentle giants. Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues.
