Hi!  My name is Mabel and I am looking for a forever home.  My previous owner had to go into assisted living and couldn't take me and my friend June so she contacted a small local rescue to see if they could take us in.  A volunteer with that rescue contacted BCAA to see if they could help and they said yes!   At first, my foster mom thought I was an all white chihuahua mix but then noticed I have light tan patches that show up on closer look.  I am a smaller chihuahua, mostly white with some black and a touch of brown, and I'm about 3 years old and currently weigh just a little under 8 lbs and shouldn't get much bigger.   I am a little shy when first meeting new people but it doesn't take me long to learn I can trust you and then I love getting attention and treats.  I have gotten along with all of the other small dogs I have met and even share an XL crate with my friend June (we eat side-by-side without any issues).  While me and June get along, it won't bother either of us to find our own home; I haven't bothered the cats I've come across.  I have gotten along ok in a crate but either me or Mabel have had a couple of accidents (foster mom trying to figure out who's the guilty one but we aren't telling!) but we're starting to get better as we have learned the schedule around here.  I would really prefer to be out with you and exploring my surroundings, and while I'm not a big barker you may hear me in a crate if I see or hear you just so you won't forget about me.  I'm good on leash as it means I get to go out on an adventure with you.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.
