Description

Meet Skittles: 10/10 Confidence, 6/10 DismountsSkittles would like to make one thing very clear: He does NOT need perfect eyesight to cause perfectly good kitten chaos! This sweet little guy had a rough start to life and was pretty sick when he first came into foster care. His eyes have healed beautifully from where they started, but he was left with some vision impairment and cloudy eyes. We don’t know exactly how much he can see — and, frankly, Skittles hasn’t bothered to give us a detailed report...He’s too busy being a kitten!Balls rolling across the floor? He’s on it.Sibling WWE match breaking out? Put him in, coach.Cat tree available for climbing? Obviously he’s going to the top.Getting down from the cat tree?Well…That’s where things occasionally become a live-action blooper reel. Skittles can climb, jump, play, explore, and keep up with his siblings remarkably well. Going up is rarely the problem. Coming back down requires a little more thought when your depth perception isn’t quite cooperating.Sometimes he pauses at the edge like he’s calculating the trajectory. Sometimes he chooses a route that makes his foster family think, “Sir… are we absolutely certain about this?” And sometimes the dismount is less “Olympic gymnast” and more “tiny sack of potatoes with confidence.” But down he comes.Whether it’s navigating stairs, hopping off the couch, or figuring out the best way down from the highest level of the cat tree, Skittles needs a little extra time — and a home willing to make things easy and safe for him while he figures out his new surroundings. What he absolutely does not need is someone to feel sorry for him! Skittles is playful, curious, determined, and very much part of the action. His vision may change how he tackles certain things, but it certainly hasn’t convinced him to sit on the sidelines. Underneath the brave little adventurer is a very sweet boy. Because he can’t always rely completely on his eyes, Skittles can be a bit timid when something — or someone — is new. He likes a chance to feel things out first. But give him that time, and this cautious little guy starts to blossom.Once Skittles knows you’re safe, the cuddles arrive. He’ll settle in with you, enjoy pets, and show you the affectionate little kitten hiding behind that initial uncertainty. His trust may take a minute, but his purrs are worth the wait.Skittles is looking for his seeing-eye… best friend!Okay, okay...his buddy does not actually need formal qualifications. But feline companionship is especially important to Skittles. Having another young, playful cat around gives him a friend to wrestle with, nap beside, follow, learn from, and confidently explore the world with. Skittles must be adopted with a friend or go to a home that already has a young, playful cat. He would love to be adopted with one of his siblings — Gummy Bear, Reese’s, or Cotton Candy — or his foster brother Stitch. For Skittles, the perfect family isn’t looking for the kitten with the most perfect eyes, they’re looking for the kitten who climbs anyway. Plays anyway. Wrestles anyway. Loves anyway. And maybe they’re willing to strategically position a few soft landing zones while he perfects that dismount. Skittles sees the world a little differently — but he’s determined to enjoy every bit of it. Now he just needs someone who wants to enjoy it with him.
