Description
I’m Flamingo, a tiny brown mctabby girl with a big story and an even bigger heart. When I first arrived at Sheltering Hands, my world was full of scary things—surgery, cones on my head, stitches, medications, and people touching me when I didn’t understand why. My injured leg couldn’t be saved, so I became a tripod before I even knew what kittenhood was supposed to feel like. But here’s the part that matters: losing a leg didn’t slow me down one bit. I run, jump, pounce, and wrestle like I’ve got somewhere important to be. I keep up with every kitten challenge thrown my way. What did slow me down was learning to trust people. In the beginning, I cringed every time someone reached for me. I didn’t know that hands could be gentle. I only felt safe being touched when I was eating or sleeping—when my guard was down. Little by little, I learned that affection wasn’t something to fear. Now I do something my foster never expected: I come sit with her on purpose. I even ask for attention, politely but insistently, I've even crawled on her lap because I’ve discovered that love feels pretty wonderful. I’m still a girl who needs a little patience. I won’t show you my whole heart on day one. But if you give me time—real time—I’ll let you see the brave, silly, affectionate kitten underneath. And I promise, I’m worth the wait.
