Meet Frankenfurter, better known as Frankie, a 4-year-old Dachshund mix weighing about 14 pounds. After doing an amazing job raising her two adorable boys, this sweet girl is ready to find a forever family where she can finally be the one getting all the love and attention. Frankie is a classic Dachshund through and through. She's a velcro dog who wants to be as close to her favorite person as possible, whether that's curled up beside you on the couch, sitting in your lap, or following you from room to room. She absolutely loves going for walks and would happily join you for daily strolls before settling in for cuddle time. Because she forms such strong bonds with her people, she'd do best with someone who is home much of the time to enjoy all the companionship she has to offer. Frankie can be a little cautious when meeting new people and needs time to settle into new surroundings. She's especially devoted to the women in her life and can be protective, so she is looking for a women-only home. She may growl at men while trying to protect her person, making an all-female household the best fit for her. A few tasty treats certainly help earn her trust, and once she feels safe, her affectionate, loving personality shines. She gets along well with other dogs and is also fine with cats. Frankie would do best in a home with children 13 years and older who understand how to respect her space. She also requires a securely fenced yard, as she will not potty while on a leash. If you're searching for a loyal little shadow who will love you with her whole heart and happily stick by your side through every part of the day, Frankie may be the perfect match. Her minimum adoption fee is $400, plus a $15 rabies registration fee for McLean County residents if the dog is 4 months of age or older. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
