Found wandering together as strays, Ashley and Jonah worked as a team keeping their finder in her car while she contacted our Animal Control Officer to come and help her to exit, unsure of their behavior. Once our ACO arrived, they discovered that this herding duo was indeed friendly, and good at their job of keeping her safe in her car! Neither were chipped and had no collar with ID, and no family ever came to claim them. At 10 months old, Jonah weighs 17.20 pounds! Since he has been with us, he met a larger neutered male. This sweet, shy boy just tucked his tail for the interaction and he was interested in his new pal - sniffing all around him. Such a sweet baby! We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption to ensure a great fit for all. We don't know how he does with cats and have no way to test for that.All of our adoptable dogs/puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and UTD on all age-appropriate vaccines/preventatives. Adopters will need to establish vet care upon adopting to maintain their new family member’s health and wellness. And remember the 3-3-3 Rule when adopting a shelter pet. 3 days for your new pet to decompress3 weeks for your new family member to settle in3 months for them to build trustHis adoption fee is only $40 - NOW through end of day, Saturday, August 8! Please make sure you are able to give forever, before you commit! It is very stressful when dogs/puppies have to be returned to the shelter for any reason, so please make sure there are NO barriers to keep your pet forever once you adopt! Please bring a collar and leash OR purchase a combo from us for only $15 to safely take your new family member home. We are a first come, first served and in-person adoption center and are located at 430 Bristol Drive in Statesville, NC. We are open for adoptions Monday-Friday 12-5pm and Saturdays 11am-2pm.
