Camacho | 8 years old, Chihuahua mix | A sweet little soul with a serious love for squeaky toys Camacho, or “Macho,” is a 17-pound Chihuahua mix who is believed to be around 8 years old, although he seems and acts younger. He is a very sweet, gentle boy who loves walks, toys, food, and being close to his people. He is house trained, has access to a doggie door, and is an easygoing companion who can happily settle down next to you after some daily activity. As with any dog moving into a new home, accidents can happen while Macho adjusts to a new environment and routine. Macho walks beautifully on leash and generally stays right beside his person. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He can be a little shy at first, but he always wants to say hello and has done incredibly well with his foster siblings. He is playful, cuddly, and affectionate, and he especially loves neck and belly rubs. He isn't a big shedder, doesn't bark much, and has been an absolute angel when left home alone with other dogs. Macho loves squeaky toys and will proudly bring them all into the house every day. He is also highly food motivated and has an adorable habit of balancing on his back legs for a snack or some affection. He'll rest his head on you or offer you his paw when he's asking for love. He does have a playful, gentle nibble sometimes when being petted, and he doesn't love having the top of his head touched, but he is happy to accept those neck and belly rubs! Car rides seem to make Macho a little nervous, likely because of his past, but he's learning that they aren't so bad. His foster family has been taking him on longer hikes that require car rides, and he's making progress. He hasn't been around cats or children yet, so those are still unknowns. Macho would love a home with middle-aged or older adults who have time to take him for walks, enjoy some adventures, and appreciate having a sweet little companion by their side. He came to rescue as a surrender from Houston and has had no known medical issues in his foster home. Macho has a wonderful soul and would love nothing more than to find someone who will give him the time, patience, and love he deserves. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $125. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
