Description
Forever home wanted, meet Emma! It will be some time before our momma Emma is ready for a forever home as she is currently nursing her 8 beautiful puppies that were born on July 15! But Emma's story is one that needs to be shared and once again, shows the resilience and bravery in a dog in extreme circumstances. Emma was found as a stray in the field where she was attacked by another dog. She suffered significant injuries and blood loss by the time she arrived at the emergency hospital. She suffered such serious trauma to one of her eyes that they had to surgically remove it. Two days after arriving and undergoing surgery, she'd deliver her 8 beautiful babies, all healthy and thriving. But that wasn't all Emma had to endure, she was very emaciated, had severe tick infestation, was severely anemic, covered in mud and dried blood and dehydrated. She remained hospitalized for several days while we secured a foster home and transport to move her south. The staff at the hospital did an amazing job stabilizing her and keeping the babies all healthy. It will most likely be mid September before Emma can be adopted, that cannot occur until the puppies reach 8 weeks old and are weaned and eating on their own. Emma is sweet, gentle and loving. She has been fully attentive of her babies even when she was recovering from her horrible injuries. If Emma sound like a dog you'd be interested in meeting, please fill out an application at labradorsandfriends.org. Emma is located in Southern California.
