Description
CARTER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Carter Best Guess for Breed: Lab mix Best Guess for Age: 7 months as of June 2026 SEX: Male Estimated Weight: 24 pounds as of 3/8/2026 and again as of 4/12/26; he did not grow in that time. He *could* still have a bit more to grow though. Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but are happy to discuss integration techniques with any interested adopters. Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special Adoption Considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure they can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. Carter is Looking For: Hiya! I'm Carter! I came here from Puerto Rico with my littermates Camila, Catherine, Clara, Carlos, Colby, Cara. Growing up with them was fun and all but I'm ready for my own family! I want to explore the world by the side of my humans - sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up! Making dog friends is high on my wish list too. But you know what I want most of all? To always be safe and loved, to know where I belong. In exchange, I promise adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all my days. What do you say? Do I get to go home with you? What My Foster Says About Me: Carter loves attention and cuddles! He will seek them out and loves to just be up in your personal space. He loves walking and greeting human and dog alike on walks. He does well at dog parks and plays with dogs of all sizes - I don’t think he realizes how short he is! In the home, he does wonderfully in his crate and he hasn't had accidents in the home. He likes puzzle feeders, loves to tear apart toys and chew on bones. He is very food motivated and that is helpful when it comes to training! Overall he is a lovely little guy that just wants to play and cuddle. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, neuter, and transport from the shelter.
