He spent his entire life outdoors, braving the elements and doing his best to survive. Neighbors noticed this striking, beautiful boy slowly deteriorating—showing up with new scars, fresh injuries, and a coat that had lost its shine. Out there, every day was a struggle. When he was brought inside, no one knew for sure if a rugged, outdoor boy could ever adjust to life within four walls. But there was something so remarkably special in his eyes that he was worth taking a chance on.​And boy, has he proven everyone right.​Big Mike has embraced indoor living with overwhelming gratitude. He knows he is safe now, and he shows it every single day. He has bonded with his foster parent and transformed into a loyal, devoted companion. He isn't demanding—he’s a low-maintenance, easygoing gentleman who asks for very little: a warm place to sleep, gentle pets, his favorite Churu treats, and the sheer joy of his evening wet dinner. He loves to be brushed and he has been a litter box champ from the moment he came indoors and has never had an accident.​Health & Compatibility:During his vet care, Big Mike tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). While it sounds intimidating, it simply means his immune system is a bit weaker. FIV is only transmitted to other cats through deep, blood-drawing bite wounds—it cannot be spread to humans, dogs, or other non-feline pets.​Because he is a gentle, relaxed boy, Big Mike would do wonderfully:​As an only cat soaked in all your love.​In a home with dogs or other non-cat pets.​With another FIV-positive cat companion.​Being rescued was a true lifesaver for him. On the streets, FIV would have made life brutally tough. But in a cozy, indoor, low-stress environment, his prospects for a long, healthy, and happy life are fantastic.​Big Mike survived a hard life, but he hasn't let it harden his heart. He’s ready to offer a lifetime of quiet loyalty, deep purrs, and unconditional love to the person who gives him his forever home.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes that every pet should find a wonderful, caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out an adoption application form so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application we receive and will contact you as quickly as possible. A home visit will be scheduled before any pet is adopted to a new home. Once a home visit has taken place and the adoption application has been approved, we will ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement form. Our adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter, veterinary exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and foster care. Highly requested breeds help cover the vet costs incurred by some of our other cats, enabling us to save more lives! $350 for purebred/highly requested kittens, 6 months or younger, such as Siamese mixes, Maine Coon mixes.  These "guardian kittens" help support our rescue work by covering vet costs for other kittens. $225 for purebred/highly requested cats older than 6 months such as Siamese mixes, Maine Coone mixes.  These "guardian cats" help support our rescue work by covering vet costs for other kittens. $225 for kittens (6 months & under)    $150 for cats (older than 6 months)    $100 for senior cats (8 years or older) If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application  here . We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!
