Runt is ready to trade farm life for family life - and he is bringing plenty of charm with him. This Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix has a joyful spirit and an exciting new chapter ahead. After his owner passed away, he came into rescue from the same farm where we have helped other dogs find brighter futures. If you are looking for a loyal, conversation-loving companion, Runt may be your perfect match. This easygoing boy is people-loving, charming, and full of personality. He seems to understand everything you say and will look up at you with a smile, waiting to hear what a good boy he is. He has the cutest way of “talking” to you, bowing down with his butt in the air, and happily soaking up attention. His playful side comes out in happy little bursts, especially when he is invited to engage with his favorite people. Give him a soft blanket, a relaxed walk, some yard time, and a kind person nearby, and Runt is content. Runt is making great progress as he learns the good life indoors. He responds to his name, walks nicely on leash, keeps his area clean, and settles comfortably in a crate. He is learning formal commands, and he is attentive, eager to connect, and so ready to be someone’s loyal companion. Runt would love a peaceful home with a secure yard and a fence at least 5 feet tall where he can sniff, explore, lounge in the fresh air, and then come inside to his comfy dog bed. He is also happy to climb into the vehicle for a ride and would love to join his family on adventures - or simply tag along for errands around town. Runt would be delighted as an only dog or possibly with a friendly female dog. He appreciates having his own space at mealtime and may do well with a dog-savvy cat after careful introductions. Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues.
