* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, August 8th from 12–3 PM (unless adopted prior to the event). All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $800 Honeycomb Thinks You're Already Friends   Some dogs take time to warm up to new people.   Honeycomb apparently missed that memo.   This 7-9 month old, 13-pound Maltipoo greets complete strangers like they're old friends returning from vacation. If someone walks through the front door, she doesn't bark. She doesn't hide. She marches right over with hopeful eyes that say, "Oh good! You're here to rub my belly."   And honestly...it works every time.   The Dog Who Stole Summer Camp   Honeycomb recently visited a park where a children's summer camp happened to be playing nearby.   Within minutes, she had an audience.   Nearly twenty kids surrounded her, taking turns petting her, giving her hugs, and collecting puppy kisses. Honeycomb soaked up every second like she had been training for this moment her entire life. By the end, half the campers were trying to convince their counselors they should take her home.   Several of them said she looked like "a little human."   Her foster quietly agrees.   There's something almost person-like about the way Honeycomb gently reaches out with her front paws when she'd like to be picked up or politely requests another belly rub. She has a funny little way of communicating exactly what she's thinking without making a fuss.   Professional Neighborhood Watch...   ...except she's watching for entertainment, not security.   One of Honeycomb's favorite hobbies is parking herself by the window to observe the neighborhood. Cars roll by. Dogs stroll past. People walk down the sidewalk. She watches it all with quiet fascination like she's catching up on the latest episode of her favorite TV show.   She has absolutely no intention of alerting you to any of it.   Honeycomb may be the world's least qualified guard dog. If an intruder came through the front door, she'd probably assume they stopped by specifically to scratch her ears.   Equal Parts Puppy and Couch Potato   Honeycomb has somehow mastered the art of being both playful and peaceful.   Throw a toy? She'll happily play fetch.   Hand her a chew? She'll entertain herself.   Want to sit outside while she explores the backyard? She's in.   Ready to binge-watch your favorite show? She'll curl up nearby without complaint.   She has puppy curiosity without puppy chaos—a combination that's surprisingly hard to find.   The Belly Rub Tax   Honeycomb has one non-negotiable requirement.   If you have hands...   ...they should occasionally be rubbing her belly.   She discovered shortly after arriving in foster care that humans are excellent belly-rub dispensers, and she has fully embraced this arrangement. Friends, family, visitors—it doesn't matter. Everyone is welcome to participate.   Surprisingly Easy   For a young dog, Honeycomb has exceptionally good manners.   She walks beautifully on leash without pulling. She greets other dogs politely. Cats don't bother her. Loud noises don't faze her. She doesn't chew furniture, raid countertops, or redecorate your house while you're away.   In fact, the only thing she has ever damaged is her foster's ability to get anything done without stopping for "just one more" belly rub.   Her One Quirk   Honeycomb came into rescue with one very clear opinion.   Outside is for walks.   Pee pads are for potty.   She happily goes on daily walks, enjoys exploring the neighborhood, and loves sniffing around the yard—but when nature calls, she strongly prefers finding a clean pee pad indoors. It's simply the routine she already knew, and she's very consistent about it.   She also isn't interested in sleeping in a crate. Instead, she has chosen a much cozier arrangement: tucked underneath the bed, where she sleeps peacefully through the night.   Honeycomb's Dream Home   Honestly? Almost anywhere. Kids? She adores them. Dogs? Happy to make friends. Cats? Perfectly fine. Apartment? Great. House with a yard? Also great.   She isn't looking for adventure, acres of land, or someone to run marathons with her. She's simply looking for people to love.   And if those people happen to enjoy giving belly rubs while occasionally joining her for an afternoon of window watching...   Well, Honeycomb already thinks you're going to be best friends.
