She cried all the time and the Good Samaritan could not stand it any longer so she paid money to buy her to get her off the chain. She thought about keeping her but she would escape out her front door and cross a busy street to chase stray cats and she was afraid she’d be killed so we were contacted to see if we would take her. How could we say NO after what she went through? Her fur will grow back and she will need to be groomed and she doesn’t shed. We have done a DNA test on her and when we get that back we’ll see what she is mixed with but she has some Yorkie in her it’s believed. She is a happy girl, happy to be free of the chain. Don’t think you are going to adopt her as a couch potato because that she is not. She needs another young, under 3 yr old small do to play with as she loves to play with toys and do Zoomies. So if you have been thinking about getting a playmate for your young small dog then this might be his/her match. You do have to meet out requirements. Our must haves for her: A fence in yard Another small young dog for her to play with No cats Someone that is home more than not Sorry no apartments, high rises or condos Don’t let this cutie slip through your fingers. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
