WATCH MY VIDEO...At just 1 year old, Carmela is a beautiful golden sweetheart who is still trying to understand why she finds herself in a shelter. Her story is a sad one...after being abandoned, she was taken in by a kind person who gave her a home for the last four months. Unfortunately, a move has left them unable to take her along, and now Carmela is searching for a forever family that will never let her go. Despite the changes in her young life, Carmela remains an incredibly sweet and loving dog. She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she feels comfortable, her affectionate personality shines through. She loves cuddles, enjoys spending time with her people, and is happiest when she's part of the action. One of her favorite pastimes? Watching TV with her family! Her previous owner reports that she is housebroken and gets along well with people, older children, and other dogs. Her experience with cats is unknown. Shelter staff and volunteers have also found Carmela to be very friendly and sometimes easy to walk, and she has shown little reaction to the other dogs in the kennel area. Like many young dogs, Carmela has an enthusiastic side. She loves going for walks, enjoys a good game of chase, and is always happy to settle down with a chew bone afterward. Because she gets so excited when she knows it's time for a walk, she could benefit from some additional leash training. She's a smart girl who is eager to learn, and with consistency and guidance, she is likely to pick up new skills quickly. Due to her strength and tendency to jump when excited, Carmela would likely do best in a home without very small children or frail elderly family members.
