Description

Kopi's story feels extra special for New England hockey fans. Named after legendary retired LA Kings captain Anže Kopitar, this little guy may have come from Los Angeles, but he's ready to find his forever team right here in New England.   Meet Kopi: AKA King Kopi the Little King Looking for His Forever Team   Straight out of Los Angeles Kopi is a 5½-year-old pug with a championship-level heart and enough love to fill an arena.   At 18 pounds, Kopi's most adorable feature might be his short little front legs that give him the cutest waddling stride. Wherever he goes, smiles tend to follow. That may be because he goes wherever his people go and his clownish ways fill the room with joy.   Kopi is everything people love about pugs: sweet, funny, affectionate, loyal, and full of personality. He forms a deep bond with his person and prefers being part of the action rather than watching from the sidelines. Whether you're working from home, relaxing on the couch, or making a quick trip around town, Kopi wants to be your favorite teammate.   His favorite things include:   Mealtime and treats Cuddling with his foster sisters Hanging out in the yard and exploring the hostas and other plantings Sleeping in bed with his humans (non-negotiable according to Kopi!) Couch time with the whole family Making new friends Following his person from room to room   One of his funniest habits is what his foster family calls the "Compass Move." Kopi will lay completely flat on the floor with all four feet pointing toward his favorite person, making sure he always knows exactly where they are. His person is his true North.   Kopi is friendly with strangers and enjoys meeting new people. He's also social and curious with other dogs and would love a calm, friendly small dog companion to cuddle and play with. While he enjoys canine company, what he truly loves most is being with his people.   Because of his history, Kopi struggles with being left alone and can become vocal when crated by himself. His foster family has let him free range during short absences from home and from the nest cam it has been observed that he is much more at ease. A safe home environment will be important for Kopi. His ideal home will have people around much of the day, making a work-from-home, retired, or dog-friendly-office household a perfect fit.   Kopi is making excellent progress with house training, expect a few attempts at lifting his leg in the beginning, but after just a week he has been trustworthy in the house! He will hold his urine for quite some time, being one of those selective businessmen. He does not pee on leash so a fenced yard/area for relieving himself is needed.  He knows basic commands, is food motivated, and is eager to continue learning. Like any great teammate, he just needs a family willing to invest a little time and patience.   Kopi does have some ongoing eye care needs and takes daily eye medications, but he handles his routine well. He also needs a climate-controlled home, as heat and overexertion are not his friends. Think leisurely strolls, not marathon training. We have been giving him a joint supplement for support as well and a pro/prebiotic for gut health. He also gets very excited in the car. He prefers riding safely secured in the back seat and after about 45 minutes he settles down. We are hoping once he settles into a routine, Kopi will be a bit less excitable in the car.    Kopi's Dream Home   Someone home most of the day. having a history as a stray and an uncertain past, Kopi has been soaking up the love in his foster home. We want him to continue to flourish with the love and security he desires and deserves. A secure yard and careful door management. Kopi is quick and he wants to go with. He has been learning the "wait" command and getting better at not darting out the door with his person. Minimal stairs. Kopi has achieved the stair climbing badge but needs a little assist coming down a flight of stairs. Willingness and ability to carry him downstairs when needed and gate for safety should be a consideration. He has readily learned how to navigate ramps onto and off of the furniture. He should have this set up in his future home to avoid jumping off the furniture. A family who loves cuddling, like really loves it. He's a stage 5 clinger and is truly happiest when in contact with his people. A calm canine friend would be a bonus. A confident secure pal to help Kopi adapt to being his best self would be perfect. A bed big enough to share. A family with the patience and desire to help Kopi continue to learn. He is incredibly smart and wants to please.    Kopi may have started his journey in Los Angeles, but this former West Coast King is ready to sign with his forever team in New England. If you're looking for a devoted sidekick, professional cuddler, and all-around lovable character, Kopi is ready to wear your jersey for life.   Adopt Kopi and bring home a little King with a Hall-of-Fame heart.    ADOPTION FEE: $850.00 $600.00 based on age + $250.00 transport fee   REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTING KOPI Could be only dog or join a welcoming grumble.
