Description

Sushi is a 5 year old female spayed cat (Turkish Angora) up to date on vaccines. Here's what her foster home says about her: How would you describe the cat's general personality? She is calm and generally very sweet, although has her spicy moments (as her last foster said, just the right amount of spice). She is a princess (for those who have read Dungeon Crawler Carl, her personality does remind me of Princess Donut).  Does the cat enjoy being pet? Generally yes, although she does typically prefer for it to be on her terms (at least at first).  If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? She is almost always interested in head rubs, gentle chin or ear scritches. She also seems to sometimes enjoy pets along her back. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? She will allow her tummy to be pet but gets overstimulated quickly. She sometimes has no problem with tail pets, but at other times this seems to bother her Does the cat come on your lap? Not yet, but I get the feeling she will once she gets more comfortable. She has been coming out of her shell on her own time.  Does the cat like to be held? So far no, but again I get the feeling that with someone she trusts she would allow this. Does the cat sleep in your bed? Not yet - we have not fully integrated her with our current cats yet.  Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, but she is generally fairly respectful about it. She will come up to my chair and meow for pets, but if she doesn't feel she is getting enough attention she will stop and go back to her bed and sit calmly. Does the cat like to play? Not so far - she has not seemed particularly interested in any toys - she seems to enjoy sitting with people and getting gentle pets more than play.  What are the cat's favorite games and toys? TBD How vocal is the cat? Moderately - she meows when she wants attention, and she also has an "I'm getting overstimulated" / "I don't like this" meow.  What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Meows, also has a very soft purr and makes very soft chirps when happy. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes If no, please explain. Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes  If no, please explain. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? She is free-feeding dry food (currently Applaws) and getting wet food twice daily (she was previously eating Applaws, currently eating Royal Canin PR, since that is what my other cats get) Is the cat picky about food? She was a bit inconsistent about eating the wet Applaws food. She has not been picky with treats. I have not tried other foods except as above. What is the cat's favorite treat? Still TBD, currently she's been enjoying lickables What medication is the cat on, and how is it administered? None Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Yes - during the first few days as she got adjusted she set clear boundaries. Now she swats when she gets overstimulated or is pet in the wrong place, and typically gives an "unhappy" meow as warning first Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Extremely gently has put teeth on skin while boundary setting during first few days, has not happened since Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Still learning this side of Sushi - she hid the first day she was with us, then after that was out and about but set clear boundaries with how she would let herself be touched. She did not take long to adjust to either my husband or myself. I suspect she would be fairly social when meeting new people on her own territory, but this has not yet been tested.   If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? Yes, we have 2 other cats. Sushi is definitely interested in them, but we are still doing slow introductions (progress limited by one of my cats, not Sushi), so has only seen the other cats and fed on either side of the door with door open, and not yet played.  Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? She seems to love rolling around and lying on her back. She also is missing one of her front upper canines, which gives her an absolutely adorable look that I think encompasses her personality (gentle beauty with a touch of scrappy toughness).  In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? She is a gentle soul with clear boundaries. She is a princess who loves attention, but also is content with her own company. She has been very calm, and not made a fuss about being kept in her room during our slow introductions (except for once when she heard us hanging out right outside the door and did a lot of meowing). She seems to like it best when I come sit in her room with her and read, and she will lie down next to me and nudge my hand for gentle pets. I do also think she will be great with other cats, once we get our cat on board. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? So far it's just been the typical coming-out-of-her-shell adjustments (and the cat introductions, which again are limited by my fearful cat, not Sushi - Sushi has actually been very good about not pushing the introductions faster than the other cats seem comfortable or becoming aggressive (or bothered) at all, even if my cat hisses. She has essentially been a perfect foster - calm, respectful, enjoying attention without being needy, no issues with eating or litter box or anything.
