Description

Tess is a 7 year old, 8 lb Chihuahua mix with a tender heart and a gentle, submissive nature, especially when meeting new people! Quick Facts: Name: Tess Breed: Chihuahua mix Age: 7 years old Weight: 8 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes (best with small dogs, she is fearful of large dogs) Good with Cats: Not tested, but open to a meet and greet Good with Kids: Not tested, but likely ok with older, calm, respectful kids Energy Level: Low Fence Required: No Dog's Location: Apex, NC Special Notes: Tess is extremely bonded with her sister, Penny and they will need to be adopted together. About Tess’s Breed: Our best guess is that Tess is a Chihuahua mixed breed. Chihuahuas are tiny, expressive companion dogs known for their big personalities, deep loyalty, and strong attachment to their favorite humans. They often bond closely with one or two people, enjoying warmth, cuddles, and staying tucked right by their person’s side. While they can be a bit timid or cautious with new people or environments, they flourish with gentle handling, patience, and consistent reassurance. Their ideal home is one that offers calm routines, soft voices, and a slow, respectful pace. Chihuahuas thrive with families who understand small dog sensitivities, provide plenty of lap time, and keep them safe from rough play or large, overwhelming pets. They do especially well in quieter households, with adults or older children who know how to move gently around tiny dogs. What to Love about Tess: Tess is a total sweetheart once she learns to trust. She may crouch down in fear at first, but she’s already improving and learning that humans can be kind and safe. Tess is deeply bonded to her sister, Penny — they are truly inseparable — and must be adopted together. These two sweet girls spend their days following their foster mom around, curling up together on the couch or in their crate, giving kisses, and burrowing under blankets to stay warm. Tess is doing well with her house training and is working hard to fully master it. Tess and Penny are loving, low energy companions who prefer quiet homes and gentle routines. They do well with small dogs but are intimidated by larger ones, often avoiding them entirely. They haven’t met cats yet but would be open to a slow, supervised introduction. Both girls are crate trained and ride well in the car as long as they’re together! Tess enjoys leash walks with Penny right by her side and is gaining confidence every day. Their ideal home would include older, respectful children who understand how to move slowly around timid, tiny dogs. Tess is a total love bug, and with Penny beside her, you’ll get double the sweetness, double the snuggles, and double the joy! Tess’s Tantalizing Highlights: • Bonded with Penny – these Chihuahua sisters must be adopted together • Tess is shy and submissive at first but warms up beautifully with gentle handling • Sweet, affectionate cuddle bugs who love giving kisses and snuggling under blankets • Follow their person everywhere and enjoy being close throughout the day • Great with small dogs but nervous around larger dogs • Crate trained together and comfortable being crated as a pair when you leave the house • Tess is progressing well with house training and working hard to master it • Low energy couch potatoes who enjoy calm routines and gentle environments • Best with older, respectful kids who understand how to move slowly around timid pups Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/.
