About Penny’s Breed: Our best guess is that Penny is a Chihuahua mixed breed. Chihuahuas are tiny, expressive companion dogs known for their big personalities, deep loyalty, and strong attachment to their favorite humans. They often bond closely with one or two people, enjoying warmth, cuddles, and staying tucked right by their person’s side. While they can be a bit timid or cautious with new people or environments, they flourish with gentle handling, patience, and consistent reassurance. Their ideal home is one that offers calm routines, soft voices, and a slow, respectful pace. Chihuahuas thrive with families who understand small dog sensitivities, provide plenty of lap time, and keep them safe from rough play or large, overwhelming pets. They do especially well in quieter households, with adults or older children who know how to move gently around tiny dogs. What to Love about Penny: Penny can be very submissive when meeting new people and may crouch down in fear at first, but she’s already improving and learning that gentle humans can be trusted. Penny is extremely bonded to her sister Tess — they are inseparable — and must be adopted together. These two tiny girls spend their days following their foster mom around, curling up together in their crate or on the couch, giving kisses, and burrowing under blankets to stay warm. Penny is still working on her potty training and is a little behind Tess, but she’s trying hard and making progress. Penny and Tess are sweet, low energy companions who thrive in calm homes with soft voices and predictable routines. They do well with small dogs but are intimidated by larger ones, often avoiding them entirely. They haven’t met cats yet but would be open to a slow, gentle introduction. Both girls are crate trained and ride well in the car as long as they’re together. Penny enjoys leash walks with Tess right by her side and is gaining confidence every day! Their ideal home includes either no children or older, respectful children who understand how to move slowly around timid, tiny dogs. Penny is an adorable little lady, and with Tess beside her, you’ll get double the sweetness, double the snuggles, and double the love!
