Description

Chowder Deserves to Know What Love Feels LikeSome dogs begin life as cherished family members. Others are valued only for what they can produce. Sadly, little Chowder's story falls into the second category. This beautiful 2-year-old, 16-pound French Bulldog spent the first years of her life with a small breeder in rural Tennessee. When life changed for the breeder and it was time to move back to South America, the dogs were simply left behind to find new futures. For Chowder, that meant leaving behind the only life she had ever known—a life centered around crates, breeding, and meeting someone else's needs instead of her own.Despite everything, Chowder has a wonderfully gentle spirit. She is affectionate, loves to snuggle, and is slowly beginning to discover that life can be so much more than the routine she once knew. Being crated is familiar to her because it has been part of her world since puppyhood, but now she has the opportunity to learn what freedom feels like. Every soft bed, every belly rub, every nap beside someone who loves her is a brand-new experience.Like many dogs coming from breeding situations, Chowder is still learning the basics of family life. She isn't completely house-trained yet, but she's making progress every day. She's also learning that walks can be enjoyable, although, like all French Bulldogs, she must be protected from hot weather because her shortened airway makes heat especially dangerous. She doesn't need long adventures—just a patient family willing to let her learn at her own pace.Chowder is still discovering who she is outside of the life she was given, and watching her confidence grow is truly a beautiful thing. She is a work in progress, but then again, aren't we all? What she needs now isn't perfection. She simply needs someone who will love her for the sweet, gentle soul she has always been and give her the happy ending she's waited far too long to find.If you believe Chowder deserves that second chance, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.com
