Maple Maple is a 6‑year‑old Pit Bull with a quiet, unforgettable kind of bravery. You may recognize her from Facebook — she was one of the two dogs dumped in the Millington Wildlife Management Area, a story that broke hearts across the community.When everything around her felt unsafe, Maple made one last courageous choice: she stepped into our trap, hoping it might lead her to someone who would finally treat her like she matters. She had been surviving alongside another female dog, her closest companion, who sadly disappeared after searchers began moving through the area. We hold onto hope that her friend found the same bravery Maple did and made her way to someone kind.Maple’s past has shaped her into a shy, reserved girl. She isn’t the dog who will rush up to you the moment you meet — she needs time, patience, and gentle understanding. But when you look into her soulful eyes, you’ll see everything she’s endured and everything she still hopes for. She wants safety. She wants kindness. She wants a person who will show her she’s worth loving, not throwing away.Maple is looking for a low‑traffic home, a calm and steady environment where she can feel secure and build trust at her own pace. If you’re someone who understands slow introductions, soft voices, and quiet companionship, Maple is ready to give you a loyalty that runs deep.Maple's adoption fee is $175, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption.Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful.
