Maya

Description

Maya was born into a feral community in our neighborhood.  When she was 8 months old, I was able to capture her after realizing she was blind.  She only weighed 4 and a half pounds at that time.  She has been with us for about 2 months.  During this time, she has had her left eye removed, has been spayed, and now weighs a little over 6 pounds. She has very little sight in her right eye. However, Maya is amazing.  She has mapped my entire house using just touch, sound, and her whiskers.  She does not like to be picked up or carried because it disorients her but loves to be on the chair with you and to be petted, sometimes sitting in your lap.  She knows exactly where her food, water, and litter are.  She has never gone outside of her litter box.  She loves to play with toys.  I have several that either smell of catnip or make noise so she can easily find them.  She is a beautiful black and white cat with a very loving  nature.  She gets along well with my dogs, even playing with them.  She is very gentle and has not scratched me in play.  She has scratched me when I pick her up because it confuses her.  She is so smart and is so happy for all she has been through.  Just a wonderful cat.
