Description
Uncle Winston is a friendly, social 3-year-old kitty looking for his forever home!Blessed with a beefy muscular body, a sultry swagger and a soft heart, this sweet guy wouldn't hurt a fly, quite literally. His face and rough voice say Grumpy Cat, but he's got a soft spot for babies. Uncle became part of his name when a litter of kittens also living alone outside started following him around. And even though all types of loud noises don't bother him in the least, the sound of a crying baby or a kitten sends him off on a search and rescue mission.Named after Winston Churchill, the "Roaring Lion", Uncle Winston is also known for his speeches, namely "Where have you been all day?", "It's almost dinnertime", and "I need some attention." Even when guests show up, he's a bit like a dog who noisily greets everyone. Winston simply wants to be included in the human activities. He can easily be distracted with a few moments of play, petting, or of course, food. And once everyone has settled in, he will often simply sit quietly nearby. Sometimes though, the excitement of having new people around gives him a case of the zoomies!Uncle Winston spends most of his days and nights sleeping and watching wildlife from a comfy window ledge. He will initiate play with his favorite toys but would love for you to interact with him from time to time. Since he currently lives alone with no other pets, he will sometimes try to engage his human in a game of hide and seek. When you recognize and accept his invite, you will both have a bit of fun! Winston is great company. He lets you do your thing but is always connected. He may follow you from one room to the next and position himself nearby like a personal bodyguard. And you may notice that he will even try to warn you when something isn't right, like when something is boiling over on the stove. Giving him a moment of appreciation is all he needs to want to protect you and keep the home running smoothly. Some of Winston's favorite things are people, food, and fresh water. He likes to drink from a faucet while you brush your teeth, for example. An automatic feeder is a great way for him to maintain a healthy weight while snacking around the clock. He is adaptable and will quickly pick up on your routine to help lead you through your day. Head rubs, ear scritches, and cheek and chin scratches of varying style are what he can't get enough of. The firmer the better! Just hold up your hand or fingers and he will guide you with pleasure. There's not one part of his body that doesn't welcome your touch. You can expect periodic petting visits to briefly break up your day and benefit you both. Spending a few minutes down on the floor with him or playing with a laser or pole toy is even better. Winston thrives on quality interactions and human connections. Taking the time to have him feel seen, safe, and loved will do wonders! Winston can handle a busy household but would do best with a caretaker who is attentive to his body language and his overall well-being to keep stress levels low. Uncle Winston is FeLV+, so he cannot live with another cat unless it is also FeLV+. FeLV is not contagious to humans or dogs but can be transferred to other cats. Annual vet visits, regular immunizations, and your love will help Uncle Winston maintain a normal, healthy, and happy life. You can read more about FeLV here: https://tinyurl.com/ycxhwcmuWith proper introductions, Winston would likely do well with a canine companion or another FeLV+ cat. He would love, love, love to have a playmate! Currently, he tries to make do with his human companion who doesn't necessarily appreciate his tendency to play bite and bunny kick (fortunately with soft paws and a soft bite). His humans would need to be understanding and willing to help him continue to learn how to play and communicate in ways that keep everyone happy. This sweet young guy was rescued from a snowbank that had a death grip on him this past winter. That rough experience left him in bad shape, losing an ear and both canine teeth. There is something about this guy that people are drawn to. He has a calming presence that somehow puts you at ease.In the words of Winston Churchill himself, "Never, never, never give up". Uncle Winston is determined to survive in this world, and he's looking for someone to not give up on him.
