Meet Boots! Boots is a handsome adult male chinchilla looking for a fresh start after being surrendered through no fault of his own. Unfortunately, his previous home had more animals than they were able to properly care for, and now Boots is ready to find a forever family that can provide him with the love, attention, and specialized care he deserves. Chinchillas are intelligent, curious, and gentle companions that thrive in a calm, predictable environment. They require a spacious, multi-level enclosure with solid flooring, plenty of opportunities for climbing and exercise, and a cool, well-ventilated area, as they are highly sensitive to heat. Their diet should consist primarily of high-quality chinchilla pellets and unlimited grass hay, with fresh water available at all times. Dust baths several times each week are essential to keep their dense coats healthy and clean. While chinchillas can be shy at first, they often form strong bonds with their caregivers through patient, gentle handling and daily interaction. Boots will benefit from a family willing to give him time to settle in and build trust at his own pace. Like all pets, chinchillas require routine veterinary care with an exotic animal veterinarian. Regular wellness exams, proper nutrition, and attentive husbandry help ensure they live long, healthy lives, with many chinchillas living 10 to 20 years or more.
