Description
Hi, my name is Layla. My current fosters have renamed me Hannah. They sometimes refer to me as “Happy Hannah” because I am always happy. I came from a high-kill shelter in Arkansas, and have been with my current fosters here in Minnesota since March. I think I am some kind of terrier/collie/Aussie mix. (The Aussie would explain the black spots on my sides and tummy). My coat is mostly coarse with just the right amount of soft mixed in on my face and belly, so I don’t shed very much. I may be hypoallergenic, but I’m not sure. I have a naturally cool mo-hawk that runs down the length of my spine. I have four white socks and a big perky white-tipped tail that is always straight up and wagging because I’m very happy doing anything with my people. I am a very pretty girl who gets a lot attention and compliments about my looks while out on public adventures with my fosters. I am probably a few months o ver 1yrs old. I weigh about 38lbs and am probably done growing, according to the vet…which is hard to believe when you see my big white paws. Here is a list of most of my attributes: - I am great with all humans, in fact I’ve never met one I didn’t like, especially children of all ages who are free to walk right up and pet me. - I’m great at playing fetch off-leash either in a big park with a Chuck-It-Ball or into the water off the end of the dock or beach. - I am amazing in the crate, and I will run to my kennel when asked to. I will not make a single peep all night until my fosters come and get me up mid morning. -There has never been a dog who craves more attention from my people or others than I do, be it getting scratches, cuddling, or just chilling out on your lap or next to you. - I’ve had some obedience training. I am very intelligent and food motivated. know the commands sit and stay but could probably learn anything you want to teach me. I usually come when I’m called, but I am part terrier, so can be a little stubborn at times. - I love spending time on or near the water. - I love going for walks and am still working on leash skills, I do good on a certain type of leash that keeps me from pulling. - I love going to the off-leash dog park to run and play with dogs of all sizes very well, however I can still be reactive when I’m on the leash to other dogs on the leash, especially if they bark at me or don’t want to be my best friend immediately. - I still have a moderate energy level for part of the day, but I calm down nicely. I still can bark some at people when they approach my front door or sometimes when they walk by our house, especially with a dog because I feel like I need to protect my humans. - I love to bark at wild turkeys and try and chase bunnies and squirrels, but don’t all dogs? - I am potty-trained but I still have an occasional accident… but only in a certain spot in the corner where an elderly dog who previously lived in my foster’s house peed some in the past. - I am a ton of fun and would do well in a home that would like to do fun stuff with me. I would love an older brother or sister my size or bigger, but it’s not required. I would love a fenced in yard at my forever home, but my fosters have a yard where they attach me to a long lead so I can run around while they keep tabs on me from inside, and that works too!
