* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, August 1st from 12–3 PM (unless adopted prior to the event). All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $800 Meet Tiny!   Tiny may only weigh 6.5 pounds, but this little Maltipoo has enough personality to fill an entire house. At just 6-8 months old, she's already proven how resilient she is. When Tiny arrived at DPS from the shelter, she was heartbreakingly underweight with a severely matted coat that had to be shaved away. Fast forward a couple weeks, and this happy little girl is gaining weight beautifully, sporting a fresh haircut, and embracing every bit of puppy life she missed out on.   With her sparkling eyes, playful spirit, and impressive brain, Tiny is ready to leave her difficult past behind and start the adventure she's been waiting for— a forever family of her own.   A Day in the Life   Tiny follows a structured routine that's helping her continue to grow into a healthy, happy puppy. Because she arrived so underweight, she currently enjoys four meals a day at 7:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. She's making wonderful progress toward a healthy weight and never turns down a tasty meal or training treat!   After breakfast, Tiny heads out for her morning walk, where she's learning all about the exciting world around her. During the day, she's happiest hanging out near her foster while they work, usually curled up in a cozy dog bed beside the desk. She loves being close to her people but is also perfectly capable of entertaining herself with toys when everyone is busy.   After dinner, she enjoys another walk before winding down for the evening. By around 10:30 p.m., Tiny knows it's bedtime and happily settles into her crate, where she sleeps peacefully through the entire night.   A Little Dog With a Big Personality   Tiny is exactly what her foster describes as "a tiny dog with a BIG BRIGHT personality."   She may be petite, but she's full of confidence, curiosity, and joy. She's always interested in what's happening around the house and loves feeling like part of the action. While she enjoys following her people from room to room, she's not overly clingy and is perfectly happy taking little breaks to entertain herself.   One minute she'll be curled up in your lap soaking up cuddles, and the next she'll be happily digging through the toy basket, tossing toys around, or inventing her own games. One of her funniest habits is rubbing her back against the couch or other furniture, happily walking back and forth with the biggest smile on her face as if she's giving herself a massage.   She's wonderfully affectionate while still being an independent little thinker.   Smart as Can Be   Tiny isn't just adorable— she's incredibly clever.   Because she's so food motivated, she absolutely loves learning new things and picks up training remarkably quickly. She already knows sit, down, touch, and spin, and her foster believes she's just getting started.   Tiny pays close attention to the people around her and has an amazing ability to match the energy of her environment. If it's time to play, she's bouncing around with puppy enthusiasm. If it's time to relax, she's happy to curl up quietly nearby.   For a family that enjoys training, enrichment games, and teaching fun tricks, Tiny is going to be an absolute superstar.   Playful and Social   Tiny currently lives with a 22-pound doodle named Ollie, and the two have become wonderful playmates. They spend their days chasing each other around the house, playing tag, and occasionally teaming up for a little harmless mischief.   As her foster says, if the house suddenly becomes very quiet...it's probably time to go see what Tiny and Ollie are up to!   She's also met other dogs on neighborhood walks and greets them politely with friendly nose boops before continuing on her adventure.   Tiny has just the right amount of puppy energy. She loves to play, bounce, and explore, but she's equally happy curling up beside you for a relaxing afternoon on the couch.   Learning the Ropes   Like any young puppy, Tiny is still learning about the world.   She's making great progress on leash walking and enjoys exploring, although she occasionally wants to investigate every interesting direction she sees. Positive reinforcement has helped tremendously, and she's becoming more confident every day.   There are still a few things she's unsure about—elevators and automatic doors can be a little intimidating, so her foster simply carries her through those situations until she builds more confidence.   Like many puppies her age, she's also going through a teething phase and appreciates having appropriate chew toys available to keep her busy.   Tiny has a coat that will require regular grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best.   Her Perfect Home   Tiny would thrive with a family who wants an active little companion to include in everyday life. Whether it's running errands, visiting friends, traveling, or simply spending the day together, Tiny is the perfect portable sidekick.   She'd especially love a family that enjoys training and enrichment.
