* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, August 1st from 12–3 PM (unless adopted prior to the event). All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $750 Meet Fern & Ivy!   Fern and Ivy are an irresistible pair of 10-11 week old Cattle Dog mix sisters who were rescued from a crowded shelter and are now ready to find a forever family of their own. Like all puppies, they're full of curiosity, playfulness, and affection. Their days are filled with zoomies around the yard, tug-of-war matches, cozy naps, and plenty of cuddle sessions with their favorite humans. If you're looking for puppies who will keep you smiling while also melting your heart, these girls are exactly that.   Please note: Because Fern and Ivy are littermates, they will need to be adopted separately to help each puppy grow into a confident, well-adjusted adult.   A Day in the Life   Fern and Ivy are early risers, greeting each morning between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. with a potty break followed by breakfast. After filling their little bellies, they're ready for another puppy power nap before launching into a morning full of adventures.   Much of the day is spent romping around the yard, chasing each other in joyful circles, wrestling over tug toys, and exploring every interesting stick, leaf, and flower they can find. They also love spending time indoors, where one of their favorite activities is crawling underneath beds and discovering new hiding spots.   Lunch arrives around noon, followed by another nap, then it's back outside for more puppy games before dinner around 6:30 or 7:00 p.m. After an evening full of play and cuddles, both girls are completely worn out by 9:00 p.m. and happily drift off to sleep.   Ivy – The Fearless Little Explorer   Ivy is the adventurous ringleader with enough personality to keep everyone around her laughing. She's incredibly clever. She approaches life with endless curiosity. She's convinced every shoe, sock, branch, or forgotten treasure is waiting to be discovered, and somehow always manages to sniff out the one sock everyone thought was safely hidden. She enjoys exploring every inch of the yard, finding shady bushes to crawl under, and inventing little adventures all on her own.   Despite her independent streak, Ivy loves affection. She happily accepts hugs, pets, and kisses before heading off to see what exciting discovery awaits next.   Fern – The Sweetheart   Fern is pure sweetness wrapped in a fluffy puppy body. If Ivy is the adventurer, Fern is the devoted best friend who simply wants to love and be loved.   She's calm, gentle, and incredibly affectionate without being demanding. Every morning when she sees her people, she becomes so excited that her whole body wiggles with happiness. She bounces around, eager to say hello, and happily showers everyone with puppy love.   Fern enjoys collecting little treasures during her outdoor adventures, proudly carrying sticks, bark, flowers, and other backyard discoveries back to her people as if she's presenting priceless gifts.   She has an especially close bond with humans and quickly won over her foster family's teenage daughter with her loyal, loving personality. While she's happy entertaining herself, she'll never pass up the chance to curl up for cuddles or simply relax nearby.   Happy, Social Puppies   These girls absolutely adore people. They've met visitors of all ages and greet everyone with wagging tails, kisses, and excitement. They're especially fond of children and would love to become active members of a busy family.   Neither puppy is much of a barker. They'll occasionally respond if a neighboring dog starts barking, but they quickly settle again.   Both girls have the perfect balance of puppy energy. They love to play, wrestle, and explore, but they're also happy entertaining themselves while their humans are busy before curling up for another nap.   Puppy Manners   Like any young puppies, Fern and Ivy are still learning all about the world.   They're making wonderful progress with potty training and have already started learning to wait until they're outside to potty whenever possible. They're beginning to understand where to go in the yard and should continue progressing quickly with consistency and positive reinforcement.   Both girls are enthusiastic chewers, thanks to normal puppy teething. Shoes, socks, sandals, and shoelaces are currently considered the greatest toys ever invented, so puppy-proofing your home will definitely be important.     Their Perfect Homes   Fern and Ivy would each thrive with families who are ready to include a puppy in everyday life. They love activity, conversation, kids, and being wherever the action is. A fenced yard would be wonderful for burning off puppy energy, but just as important is plenty of time indoors with their people receiving affection and attention.   Both girls are affectionate without being overly demanding, playful without being overwhelming, and wonderfully social.
