*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Meet Merida, a sweet and playful Pyr mix who found her way from the streets of Georgia into foster care and has been winning hearts ever since. Merida is housebroken and doing well on the leash, improving with practice. She hasn't had any formal obedience training, but she doesn't need it to be a joy to be around - she's just a happy, affectionate girl at heart. Merida is an active dog who would love a play buddy to burn off her energy with. A 4-foot fence is enough to keep her safely contained, and she's not an escape artist or a runner at all. She enjoys being outside and hanging out on the porch. Cats aren't a good match for her, as she gets way too interested in chasing them. Other dogs, though, are a different story entirely - she absolutely adores the 2 Pyrs she lives with and tries her hardest to get them to play with her (a large male and a medium-sized female). She loves people too, and greets everyone with a lot of enthusiasm; because of this, she'd do best in a home with larger, sturdy children and stable elderly individuals. Merida digs a little, but she's not going to tear up anyone's yard. She barks less than the average Pyr, and is a great watchdog who alerts to strange cars and approaching people. She prefers being outside with her canine companions, and her favorite pastime is chewing, so she’s crossing her paws that her new family will have lots of bones and antlers! She has plenty of toys, but what she really wants most is another dog to play with. She's not a fan of loud storms, but she only responds with a little whining, and interestingly, fireworks don't bother her at all. Cheese is her favorite treat, and she also enjoys scrambled eggs mixed in with her dinner. What makes Merida truly special is her playful, sweet temperament and her genuinely happy spirit. She'd thrive best in a home with a doggie sibling to play with and a patient adopter willing to keep working with her on training. No Cats.  Fencing: Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed. Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Fees for senior dogs (7 or older) and foster dogs will be adjusted accordingly.
