Whitaker is the kind of dog who brings a smile to your face every single day. This handsome Miniature Schnauzer mix has a goofy personality, a playful spirit, and a heart full of love. Whether he’s making you laugh with his silly antics, carrying around one of his favorite toys, or curling up beside you for some couch time, Whitaker is happiest when he’s with his people. Friendly and affectionate, Whitaker enjoys meeting new people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He would thrive in a home with a playful canine companion but would also be happy as an only dog as long as he has plenty of love, attention, and opportunities to socialize. He’s smart, eager to please, and responds very well to gentle correction, making him a wonderful candidate for continued training. Like many young pups, Whitaker is still polishing a few manners. He occasionally thinks a stray shoe or sock might make a fun toy, but he’s quick to redirect and learns fast with consistency. He’s also nearly potty trained, with only a handful of accidents as he continues to build good habits. Whitaker isn’t a big fan of the kennel, but he has done well being left loose in the home without being destructive, so his future family can decide what works best for them. While he hasn’t spent much time around children in foster care, his friendly, playful personality makes us think he could be a wonderful family companion. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate best friend with a playful streak and a talent for making you laugh, Whitaker just might be the perfect addition to your family. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
