Description

Meet Norma!  Don't let her tiny 12-pound frame fool you—Norma has a personality that's larger than life! If you've been searching for a little queen bee to rule your heart (and maybe your couch), Norma could be your perfect match. Norma is a world-class cuddler who wants nothing more than to be close to her people. Whether she's soaking up belly rubs, snuggled beside you on the couch, or trying to convince you that your bed is her bed, she's happiest when she's with her favorite humans. She can be a little cautious when meeting new people, but she's been friendly with everyone she's met and warms up nicely. When she's not cuddling, Norma loves to zoom around the yard, inviting the other dogs to chase her. She's starting to discover the joy of stuffy toys, loves chewing on a good bone, and is highly food- and treat-motivated, making training a fun experience. She's also a wonderful travel buddy, rides well in the car, and enjoys going for walks. Norma is adjusting well to home life after making the journey from Arkansas. She had a few accidents during her first days, but as her foster family has learned her potty signals, she's been doing much better with going outside. Like many dogs settling into a new routine, Norma isn't a fan of the crate. She'll sleep in it overnight with a little protesting, but she'd much rather be curled up in bed with you! She may bark when crated while you're away, although she settles well if she's crated in the same room while her people are home. Norma gets along well with other dogs and has even tried to initiate play with her resident canine friends. She hasn't been tested with cats. She does have a prey drive and would happily chase squirrels or other critters if given the opportunity, so a secure leash or fenced yard is important. This little lady definitely enjoys being the center of attention! She'll happily squeeze her way in for extra pets and sometimes tries to keep all the affection for herself. She's also protective of her food and bones around other dogs, though she allows people to take items from her without issue. Her foster family is helping her build confidence and work on sharing attention, and she's making progress.  If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate little dog with a big heart, a playful spirit, and enough personality to keep you smiling every day, Norma is your girl! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
