Description

Pleasanton is a gorgeous 5-year-old, 54-pound German Shepherd mix. Found tied outside the shelter, she may take a little time getting comfortable, but she’s shown herself to be a sweet, gentle girl. Volunteers describe her as calm, polite, and people-focused. She leans in for pets, offers soft kisses, and is happy to work for treats—she knows “sit” and can even catch them midair. On a recent field trip, Pleasanton rode quietly in the car and enjoyed a long trail walk. She’s nice on leash and doesn’t pull, ignored most people and dogs, and was easily redirected from the many ground squirrels. She loved taking in the sights and smells, and spending time with her person. Pleasanton has an independent social style with other dogs and could do well in a home with a compatible dog, or as a solo dog with friends. She’s looking for a patient adopter who will let her set the pace as she continues to builds confidence.
