Description
Animal Information: Elle Mae is a 6-year-old, 14lb Jack Russell mix who came to the Stanislaus shelter as a stray. She was terrified when she arrived, hiding in the back of her kennel and shaking. Staff brought her out to assess her, and away from the kennel she showed her true personality. Though shy at first, Elle Mae is a very sweet dog who was happy to curl up in a lap and relax. She did well meeting other dogs and is friendly with new people once she has a little time to warm up. Foster Profile: Ella Mae arrived just a week ago, so she’s still settling in, but she has already stolen everyone’s hearts. She is truly such a gem of a dog! So far, she’s been doing amazing in her crate, is potty trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and is incredibly social and friendly with every person she meets. Seriously—everyone who meets her instantly falls in love with those deep, soulful eyes. Ella Mae is still a little timid around other dogs, so she’d likely thrive as a one-and-only pup or in a home with calm, respectful canine companions. She and the dog in her foster home coexist just fine, although Ella Mae doesn’t seem particularly interested in making best friends. As her confidence grows, so does her dedication to neighborhood security. She’ll occasionally sit on the back of the couch to let us know when another dog has the audacity to walk past her house. Other than her self-appointed Neighborhood Watch duties, she’s a very quiet girl, with only the occasional whine when she’s feeling nervous or extra excited. She can get a little jumpy at times, and we’re working on that, but she’s learning every day and wants so badly to be a good girl. Ella Mae is sweet, affectionate, easy to love, and just an all-around wonderful dog.
