Description

Charles is a male cat who presented bright, alert, and responsive (BAR). He has tested positive for both feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), and has a history of vomiting and diarrhea (V/D). At this time, Charles is receiving supportive care and monitoring in the shelter. While he remains bright and friendly, his medical needs and infectious disease status require a placement that can provide ongoing veterinary care, close observation, and a low-stress environment.Due to his FeLV and FIV-positive status, Charles should be housed indoors and separated from cats that are negative for these viruses to reduce the risk of disease transmission. His history of gastrointestinal signs may also require continued diagnostics, treatment, and long-term management depending on his response to care.Charles needs a safe, compassionate placement where he can receive the medical attention and supportive care he deserves. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical care required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter.
