That's how long sweet Lotus has been waiting for someone to look past the fact that she's an adult tabby with an ordinary-looking coat and see what we see: an extraordinary cat with an absolutely enormous heart.Lotus isn't a tiny kitten. She doesn't have a fancy pedigree or a flashy coat that immediately catches someone's eye. And she has only one eye, the result of an old injury. But you know what Lotus does have?So. Much. Love. To Give. And honestly, we think her one-eyed pirate look just makes her even more adorable. ‍ She doesn't let it slow her down one bit. Lotus is fully committed to rocking her pirate aesthetic, and we think she wears it beautifully.Lotus has spent most of her life moving from one foster home to another. Since November 2024, she's been in her current foster home, waiting and wondering when someone will finally choose her. She has become one of our long-term residents, and we can't help but wonder:What does this girl have to do to find her person?The truth is, Lotus isn't the kind of cat who will necessarily walk up to a stranger and immediately demand attention. She can be cautious with new people and may offer a few little hisses when she's feeling unsure. She's been through a lot of changes, and she needs someone who understands that trust is something you build—not something you can rush.But once Lotus decides you're safe?Oh, you are in for something special. Her foster families have watched her blossom into an incredibly affectionate, loyal, and devoted companion. Lotus is becoming quite the Velcro cat and loves being near her people. She enjoys being picked up, petted, greeted, and included in whatever you're doing.Watching TV? She's there.Going to bed? She's there.In the bathroom? Obviously, she's there. Sitting by the window? She's right beside you.She loves simply being with her people.Lotus is also a wonderfully fun girl with plenty of playful energy. She loves batting toys across the room, chasing string, going after the laser, obsessing over ping-pong balls, and finding the best sunny spot for a post-zoomie nap. She loves to climb and explore, so a cat tree or some fun perches would make her very happy. And when she's not busy patrolling her kingdom, she loves watching birds from the window—and occasionally trying to “catch” them through the glass. She's also medium-chatty and enjoys having little conversations with her humans. One of her foster mom's favorite Lotus stories is the time this brave girl discovered a wasp in the apartment and helped track it down before anyone got stung. Of course, Lotus was rewarded with a Churu for her heroic efforts. Every pirate queen deserves payment for protecting her ship. ‍Lotus has lived with other cats in foster care, but we've learned that she truly shines as an only cat. She would love nothing more than to have her humans all to herself and be the queen of her own peaceful little kingdom. She hasn't met children yet, but she would likely do well with calm, older kids who understand cat body language and will give her the space she needs while she gets comfortable.And that's really what Lotus is looking for: a person who will see beyond the obvious.Someone who doesn't look at an older tabby and think “ordinary.”Someone who looks at that one beautiful eye and sees a little pirate queen.Someone who understands that the best things aren't always the things that grab your attention first.Because once Lotus trusts you, she isn't ordinary at all.She's affectionate.She's playful.She's funny.She's loyal.She's chatty.She's curious.She's a cuddlebug.She's your little shadow.She's Lotus.
