Description
Meet Tina! This adorable little Chihuahua mix is looking for a patient, loving family to help her continue building confidence and discover just how wonderful family life can be. Tina came to Worthy Dog Rescue from a heartbreaking hoarding situation in North Carolina, where as many as 51 dogs were living together in a small trailer. Several rescues have stepped in to help, and Worthy Dog became involved through one of our veterinary partners. We've sponsored free spay/neuter surgeries for the remaining dogs to stop the cycle, and Tina is one of four dogs we've welcomed into rescue so far. When Tina first arrived in her foster home, she was understandably overwhelmed. Having spent most of her life in a small, isolated environment, the outside world was completely unfamiliar. During her first week, she rarely ventured out of her crate, quietly observing everything around her as she adjusted to life in a home. Just a few weeks later, Tina has blossomed into a much more engaged and affectionate little dog. Once she feels safe, her loving personality shines. She's incredibly devoted to her people and loves giving kisses, curling up in your lap, snuggling on the couch, and sleeping beside you at night. She's happiest wherever her humans are and truly enjoys being part of the family. Tina has done very well as part of a pack with two other small dogs and would likely enjoy having a friendly, confident canine companion to help show her the ropes. She's also perfectly content relaxing on her own and spends much of the day napping on the couch or retreating to the comfort of her crate while her foster mom is at work. She's proven to be trustworthy in the home and is not destructive. Tina is a low- to medium-energy girl who is always up for a cozy nap or cuddle session, but she also enjoys a game of fetch and gets the cutest zoomies around the yard now that she's discovered how much fun being outside can be. One of her foster mom's favorite quirks is Tina's hilarious little "evil teeth" grin when she gets really excited…it makes everyone laugh. She's also made progress with house training. When Tina first arrived, she appeared to have little to no potty training. Today, she reliably goes outside several times a day but may still use a pee pad if left alone for longer periods. As she settles into a consistent routine, we expect her house training to continue improving. Like many undersocialized dogs, Tina will need a little time to adjust to a new home. She may become timid again during the transition, and her leash skills are still a work in progress. With patience, encouragement, and a predictable routine, we're confident she'll continue to blossom. If you're looking for a sweet, loyal companion who will reward your patience with endless affection, Tina just might be the perfect little shadow to follow you through life. Apply today!
