Ashford is a gentle, soulful cat with a quiet charm and a story of resilience. He may be shy at first, but once he feels safe, his affectionate, funny personality (complete with a little 'tude) begins to shine. A perfect day for Ashford is calm and predictable: lounging in a cozy spot, accepting gentle pets, and keeping a watchful eye on his people. He enjoys companionship without being demanding and would be happiest in a peaceful home where he can relax and feel secure. From his foster: “He was shy at first, but once comfortable he likes pets and shows his funny side. He’s living with a teenager now and does well with older kids.” Ashford’s story: Ashford was found on Ashford Street in East New York in critical condition, barely surviving and unable to eat. After rescue, he received a much-needed dental and medical care — and the transformation has been remarkable. His glow-up reflects not just better health, but a renewed spirit. He’s a low-key companion who prefers a calm environment and would do best as a solo cat, as he can be a bit *ahem* snobby to other cats. Ashford is FIV positive, which simply means he should live indoors and receive routine vet care. Many FIV+ cats live long, happy, normal lives.
