 * This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, July 25th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $650 Meet Blintz!   Some dogs need a little time before they let their true personalities shine. Blintz is one of those special pups—and watching him blossom has been nothing short of magical.   This handsome golden 10-12 month old, 12-pound Chiweenie arrived at the shelter unsure of the world. Huddled quietly in his kennel, he was easy to overlook. But the moment he arrived at the DPS Rescue Safehouse and was surrounded by patient volunteers (with tasty treats), the real Blintz began to emerge, tail wags and all. Day by day, his confidence grew, and underneath that timid exterior was exactly who we hoped we'd find: one of the sweetest, most loving little dogs you'll ever meet.   With his beautiful shiny coat, expressive floppy ears, curly wagging tail, and soulful eyes that seem to look straight into your heart, Blintz has a way of making everyone who meets him fall completely in love.   A Day in Blintz's World   Blintz starts each morning bright and early with a walk around 6:30-6:45 AM. Once he's had a chance to stretch his legs and sniff the neighborhood, he heads home full of energy for a quick play session with his favorite squeaky toys.   Breakfast is served around 8:00 AM, and afterward Blintz settles into one of his favorite jobs: being his foster parent's meeting buddy. While emails are answered and Zoom calls happen, Blintz is perfectly content snoozing at their feet, reminding everyone that workdays are always better with a dog nearby.   He enjoys potty breaks around noon, another evening walk around 5:00 PM where he happily greets many of his neighborhood dog friends, dinner around 7:00 PM, and one final nighttime stroll around 10:00 PM before bed.   When he's not out exploring, you'll usually find Blintz curled up on the couch pressed against his favorite humans, snoozing in his dog bed, or seeking out the perfect sunny patch to soak up the warmth. He also takes his sniffing duties very seriously and believes every tree and flower deserves a thorough inspection.   Professional Cuddler   If you're looking for a dog who wants to be your constant companion, Blintz may be your perfect match.   When he first arrived, he slept quietly in his crate and mostly kept to his dog bed. Today, he wants nothing more than to be wherever his people are. He follows his humans from room to room, patiently waits outside the bathroom door, curls up beside you on the couch, and prefers sleeping close enough to be touching you whenever possible.   His favorite place isn't a particular bed or blanket—it's simply wherever you are.   And if you happen to stop petting him too soon, don't be surprised if he rolls over to offer his belly for "just a few more" scratches.   Mostly Chill...Until the Zoomies Hit   Blintz is wonderfully easygoing and spends much of the day napping—often 10-12 hours total, with plenty of cozy breaks in between. But every now and then, something flips his internal "zoomie switch," and he races around the apartment with hilarious bursts of puppy excitement before happily collapsing for another nap.   He loves chew toys, squeaky toys, and occasionally reminds everyone that he's still a young dog by sneaking off with a treat bag if given the opportunity! (This boy LOVES his treats!)   Social and Curious   Blintz enjoys meeting other dogs on his walks and has made plenty of neighborhood canine friends. He tends to bond especially well with small and medium-sized dogs, although he gets along with many larger dogs too. Like many little dogs, he may bark at some of the bigger pups as they pass by.   He's also endlessly fascinated by squirrels, who clearly have no idea how important they are to his daily entertainment.     A Wonderful Housemate   Blintz is housetrained, crate trained, and can comfortably stay home alone for about four hours. While he knows how to use his crate, he'd much rather be snuggled up next to his humans whenever possible.   He walks nicely on leash overall, occasionally pulling when something especially exciting catches his attention. At home, he's generally quiet, only barking occasionally when strangers pass outside the apartment.   Like most young dogs, he'll sometimes chew if he's bored, so having toys available keeps him happy and entertained.   Blintz's Perfect Home   Blintz would thrive in almost any home, including an apartment, as long as he's included as part of the family. He doesn't need constant activity—he's happiest spending his days lounging nearby, joining you for neighborhood walks, and soaking up all the love you're willing to give.   If you've been hoping for a loyal companion who will greet you with a wagging curly tail, melt into your side on the couch, and look at you with enough love to make your heart skip a beat, Blintz is ready to fill that role.   From the frightened little dog hiding in a shelter kennel to the affectionate cuddle bug he is today, Blintz has come so far. Now all he needs is a forever family to show him that he's finally home.
