 * This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, July 25th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $750 Meet Twiggy!   If you've ever wondered what it would be like to have a tiny little shadow with four impossibly skinny legs and a personality ten times her size, allow us to introduce you to Twiggy! At just 5 pounds, this adorable Chihuahua mix is all delicate little twig legs, bright eyes, and endless charm. Estimated to be 1-2 years old, Twiggy captured the hearts of every volunteer the moment she arrived at our rescue, and she has continued to prove she's an absolute superstar in her foster home.   Twiggy is the kind of dog who makes you smile without even trying. She's sweet, silly, playful, affectionate, and just the right amount of mischievous. Whether she's proudly showing off her latest toy collection, curling up in a sunny patch beside you, or bouncing straight into the air when you come home, life is simply more fun with Twiggy around.   A Day in Twiggy's Tiny World   Twiggy starts her mornings around 7:30 AM with a quick potty break before happily hopping back into bed for a few extra cuddly moments. She sleeps soundly each night on her cozy mattress beside her foster family's bed and stays there all night like the perfect little lady.   Breakfast is served around 8:00 AM, although Twiggy prefers to snack throughout the morning rather than finish everything in one sitting. After breakfast comes one of her favorite activities: her daily walk! This little girl absolutely loves exploring the neighborhood, taking in all the sights and smells with those tiny legs working overtime.   During the day, Twiggy enjoys playing with her toys, relaxing nearby while her people work or relax, and stretching out in a sunny spot for one of her signature sunbathing sessions. Dinner is around 8:00 PM, followed by more family time before bedtime around 11:00 PM.   Tiny Body, Big Personality   Twiggy is playful, and always ready for an adventure. One of her favorite games is tossing her toys around and playing fetch. But perhaps her funniest habit is becoming the neighborhood toy collector! Throughout the day, she'll carefully gather every toy she can find into her favorite spot in the garden. Missing a sock? Don't be surprised if Twiggy has added it to her treasured collection! Every evening, her foster family gathers everything up so she can happily start her collection all over again the next day.   Her joyful greetings are impossible to resist. Whether you've been gone for ten minutes or two hours, Twiggy celebrates your return like you've been away for years, launching herself into impressive little jumps that seem almost impossible for such a tiny dog.   A Loving Little Companion   Twiggy enjoys being close to her people and especially loves curling up in your lap whenever the opportunity arises. While she was initially a bit shy in her foster home, she's blossomed beautifully and continues to gain confidence with new people. Once she knows you're a friend, she's affectionate, loyal, and happiest simply sharing the same room with you.   She's also wonderfully independent and is perfectly comfortable staying home alone for several hours when needed, making her an easy companion for many different lifestyles.   Social Butterfly   Twiggy has lived with another foster dog and absolutely loved having a canine playmate. They spent their days chasing each other through the house and backyard, and Twiggy especially enjoys meeting other dogs while out on walks.   Although she hasn't lived with children, her foster believes she would do well with a family, as she's consistently friendly with adults and enjoys making new friends. As with any tiny 5-pound pup, we recommend that interactions with younger children always be gentle and supervised.   While she hasn't met a cat, her gentle nature makes us suspect she'd be fine living with a feline friend.   The Polished Package   Twiggy is fully potty trained and has lovely manners around the house. She walks beautifully on leash and genuinely looks forward to every outing. Like many young dogs, she may occasionally bark when someone comes to the door or wanders past the house, and she sometimes entertains herself with a little digging or chewing if she's feeling bored. Thankfully, these are minor quirks in an otherwise wonderfully easy companion.   Twiggy's Perfect Match   Twiggy is looking for a family who will appreciate both her playful spirit and her affectionate heart. She'll happily join you on neighborhood walks, curl up beside you while you relax, and make you laugh every day with her hilarious toy-hoarding adventures and joyful homecoming celebrations.   If you're searching for a tiny best friend with enormous personality, endless love to give, and enough charm to steal every heart she meets, Twiggy is ready to make your home her forever one. Just don't be surprised if your missing socks start turning up in her secret garden stash!
