Description

If there ever was a dog who deserved a fresh start, it's Trier. This beautiful 4 year-old orange and white French Brittany has earned the nickname "Little Lady" in her foster home because that's exactly who she is -- sweet, gentle and incredibly loving. Once she trusts you, she'll gently nudge your hand to ask for pets and happily follow you from room to room, just wanting to be near her people. Trier came to NBRAN as part of a large owner surrender, and it's clear she didn't have the chance to experience much of the world beyond a concrete dog run before coming into foster care. Things many dogs take for granted -- a cozy house, toys, soft beds, grass beneath their paws, and a family to love them -- are all brand new to her. While that can make her timid and anxious at times, she is also quietly curious and grows a little more brave every day. Right now her favorite place is outdoors. Whether she is relaxing in her little doggie pool, sniffing every blade of grass, or investigating bugs with her Brittany nose, Trier finds comfort in exploring at her own pace. Indoors she can be more timid and anxious, but she gains confidence every day by watching her canine foster brother show her that life can be fun and safe. She can often be found relaxing while meditation music plays or shadowing her foster mom and dad around the house. Trier is still figuring out how to be a dog. Toys and bones are a bit confusing, but she's learning! She's also doing wonderfully with house-training and has only had a few accidents. Her foster family is introducing her to basic manners and confidence-building through positive training, and she's making steady progress. Trier walks nicely on a leash without pulling and loves taking the world in through her nose. Trier has been wonderfully gentle and tolerant with her foster family's toddler, though loud and busy environments can make her nervous. When things become overwhelming, she does a great job of removing herself to a quieter room where she feels safe. Trier is also leaning that her crate can be a safe place when her family is away. Although she still finds it a little scary, she settles nicely with a Thundershirt and calming music. She does need to ride in a crate when traveling, as car rides are still stressful for her. Because Trier missed out on early socialization, she'd do best with another confident, friendly dog who can continue showing her that the world is a safe and wonderful place. She loves having a canine role model and has blossomed by watching her foster brother. Trier gets along well with other dogs and respectful children who understand that sometimes she needs a little space. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. Trier is looking for a family that's home more often than not, has a securely fenced yard for safe exploring, and understands that trust takes time. A kiddie pool would definitely early bonus points with Trier! Most of all, she needs patient people who will celebrate the little victories -- because for Trier, every new experience is a big accomplishment. Watching Trier discover the jobs of being safe and loved has been incredibly rewarding. Beneath her timid exterior is a heart of gold and a devoted companion just waiting to shine. She's not looking for perfection; she's looking for someone willing to help her grow. In return, you'll get the privilege of watching a truly special dog come into her own. With patience, kindness, and the guidance of a confident canine friend, Trier is sure to become an extraordinary member of one very lucky family. This sweet Little Lady has a heart of gold, and her best days are still ahead of her.
