Fence Required: No Dog's Location: Chapel Hill, NC About Wally’s Breed: Our best guess is that Wally is a Bulldog mixed breed. Bulldog mixes are known for their big hearts, sturdy builds, and endlessly affectionate personalities. They often blend the Bulldog’s signature sweetness and goofy charm with the traits of their other parent breed, creating dogs who are social, people oriented, and full of character. Many Bulldog mixes have a naturally friendly, comedic presence — the kind of dogs who make new friends everywhere they go and adore being close to their humans. Their ideal home is one that offers steady routines, daily walks, and plenty of companionship. Bulldog mixes thrive with families who enjoy a blend of activity and relaxation: a good walk to burn energy, followed by long cuddle sessions on the couch. They do well with respectful children, friendly dogs, and homes that appreciate their enthusiastic greetings and velcro dog tendencies. With structure, affection, and a comfortable place to lounge, Bulldog mixes shine as loyal, loving companions. What to Love about Wally: Found emaciated and heartworm positive back in March, Wally came into rescue determined to heal — and he did! Today, Wally is healthy, happy, and ready to find the forever family he’s always deserved. Despite everything he’s been through, Wally loves everyone he meets. He’s a true social butterfly who even enjoys going to the vet, greeting staff like they’re old friends! Wally’s favorite hobbies include: eating, playing with doggie friends, meeting new people, eating, going for walks, hanging out at breweries and parks, eating, chewing bones, cuddling, and being as close as physically possible to his humans… and did we mention eating? He’s affectionately known as a “cuddly rhino” — full of enthusiasm, love, and a little bit of bulldozer energy. He doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body, but he can accidentally knock over small kids in his excitement, so he’d do best with kids who can handle his zest. And when he’s not zooming around, he’s the most velcro, snuggly companion you’ll ever meet — he supervises everything, including bathroom breaks! Wally is totally potty trained, crate trained, and respectful of cats. He thrives with doggie siblings and loves making new canine friends. He’s still working on leash manners — mostly because he thinks he needs to “help” you put the leash on with all his gusto — but once he’s out the door, he enjoys his daily walks and settles beautifully afterward. As long as he gets his exercise, he’s content to cuddle by your side all day long. If you’re looking for the cuddliest rhino in town, complete with an epic underbite and a heart of pure gold, Wally is your guy. He’s ready to bring joy, affection, and endless enthusiasm to his forever family!
