** This dog is in a foster home in San Antonio, TX. Prospective adopters must be able to travel to San Antonio to complete the adoption process. Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/ ** Meet Annie! Annie is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing just 10 pounds, with a big personality packed into a tiny body. Annie ended up in a South Texas high-kill shelter after her owner passed away. She’s now looking for a family who will give her the love and stability she deserves for the rest of her life. Annie recently had surgery to repair an inguinal hernia and has recovered beautifully. She’s a happy little girl who loves toys and enjoys keeping herself entertained. She lives peacefully with other foster dogs, although she can be a bit bossy from time to time—a classic Chihuahua trait that only adds to her charm. She isn’t completely house-trained yet, but she’s making good progress. Annie does best in an exercise pen with puppy pads rather than a crate and continues to improve with a consistent routine. Annie is affectionate, fun, and full of personality. Whether she’s carrying around a favorite toy or making you smile with her expressive ears and bright eyes, she’s sure to become a cherished member of the family. If you’re looking for a small companion with a playful spirit and lots of love to give, Annie is ready to meet you. Annie has been diagnosed with heartworm infection. Dogs acquire heartworm infections when they are bitten by a mosquito that was infected with heartworm larvae.Dogs with heartworm infection live happy, high-quality lives as long as they are given appropriate care. Heartworm infection is relatively common in the United States so we are in need of caring adopters like you that are willing to open their home to a dog with heartworm infection. We think that our heartworm dogs have just as much to offer their new adopters as any other dog and they deserve a chance at life. Adopters will receive all the necessary medications needed to complete the heartworm treatment protocol. Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for her entire life (up to 15+ years or more.) You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. Her adoption fee is $250. This includes her spay surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccination, Nobivac® Intra-Trac 3 vaccination, Drontal® Plus, IDEXX SNAP® 4Dx Plus Test, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar. Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.saspca.org. Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references, and criminal histories. Our adoption events are held every other Saturday at Petco located in the Northwoods Shopping Center at 18138 San Pedro Ave, San Antonio TX 78232. Event hours are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additional questions may be directed to sagdinfo@gmail.com. ** This dog is in a foster home in San Antonio, TX.
