Description
Some of you may remember Lilah, Brother, and Remi—the three adorable puppies we rescued in February after they were seized from a neglect case. More recently, the adult dogs from that same situation—Jax, Merlin, and the puppies' mom, Piper—were also removed and found themselves in urgent need of rescue. Thanks to our amazing volunteers, we were able to welcome them to safety. All three are friendly, loving dogs who simply deserve the second chance they've never had. Meet sweet Piper! Piper has spent her life taking care of everyone else. After being rescued from a neglect case where she lovingly raised multiple litters of puppies, it's finally her turn to be someone's baby. This sweet German Shepherd has never met a stranger and is happiest when she's right by your side—actually, as close as possible! If you're looking for a loyal shadow and cuddle bug, Piper is ready for the job. She has the perfect mix of playful energy and easygoing companionship. Smaller in stature but big in personality, Piper loves car rides, enjoys family outings (especially if there's shade and air conditioning!) but will never turn down an adventure, and is always happy to soak up attention from her favorite people. Piper is potty trained, doing great on leash training, rides beautifully in the car, and is respectful in the house. She does well in a kennel, gets along with other dogs with proper introductions, and loves children and new people. She will let you know when someone is at the door, making her a wonderful companion and little watchdog. Because of her prey drive, she'd do best in a home without cats or other small animals. Piper has spent enough of her life putting others first. Now she's looking for a family who will love, cherish, and spoil her the way she's always deserved. Like all GSDs and other herding breeds that we have in rescue, Piper will need training, consistency, boundaries, and lots of activity and socialization, in order to be a well-balanced, well-behaved dog. This sweet girl would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that she needs. Because of that, her ideal owner will have prior GSD, or similar breed experience, and a playful dog buddy. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills and manners. Piper's adoption fee is $350, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped.
