Description

General Notes | Meet Scooter! If you're looking for a dog whose primary goal in life is to be your shadow and soak up all your love, you've found him. This handsome 2-year-old Lab mix is incredibly sweet, gentle, and eager to please. He’s the kind of boy who leans right in for cuddles and just wants nothing more than to be a loyal, cherished member of your family.Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP, and an Adoption Coordinator will be in touch within a few days. Our standard application processing timeline is 12 - 14 days. Personality | Scooter is a gentle, loving dog with a heart of gold. He loves the pool and spends his days hanging out in the water! Because he has been through a lot, he is still learning that the world is a safe place. He can get spooked by loud noises, but bounces back quickly and is ready to go right back to getting pets. A peaceful, loving home that is willing to help him continue building his confidence will give Scooter everything he needs to thrive. Story | Roadie and Scooter are true survivors. Together, these brothers were rescued from a severe cruelty case in Texas. After being pulled from animal control, they were moved to foster homes where they could finally decompress, heal, and experience what it means to be cared for. Despite the unimaginable hardships they endured, their resilience has amazed everyone who meets them. It is a testament to their loving nature that they both remain so sweet, forgiving, and eager to trust humans again.Other Dogs | They have been introduced to multiple dogs, big and small, by their trainer and have done wonderfully. They are respectful and gentle, without even a hint of a snarl or growl during introductions. Cats | These boys have not been cat tested yet. Children | They aren't being fostered with kids but we think they could do well with kind, respectful kiddos. Training | Roadie and Scooter are very smart and are already picking up basic commands. They have been doing great with crate training and potty training, though scooter does still get scared when left in his crate. Their future family will want to continue their confidence-building and exposure training, but because they are so eager for affection and eager to please, they are highly trainable and ready to learn.Leash | He walks great on the leash! He prefers being near his people which includes when he's walking on a leash. Activity Level | Moderate - your typical lab!Health Notes | Both boys are now fully vetted, vaccinated, treated for parasites, neutered and thankfully, heartworm-negative!Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care (that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved.  Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
