Meet Percy! Percy is a sweet 9-month-old Pit Bull puppy with a gentle heart that's just waiting for the right person to help it shine. After coming to the shelter as a stray, she's looking for a patient, understanding family who will give her the love and guidance she needs to grow into a confident companion. Percy is easy to leash and walks nicely on leash, making outings with her enjoyable. She can be a little reserved when meeting new people and tends to look to her trusted human for reassurance. Once she feels safe, though, her playful puppy personality begins to emerge, showing off the affectionate, lovable girl she truly is. As an undersocialized puppy, Percy is still learning that the world isn't such a scary place. She hasn't had any formal training, so she'll thrive with an adopter who is committed to providing positive reinforcement, consistent structure, and plenty of opportunities to build her confidence. Watching Percy come out of her shell will be an incredibly rewarding experience for the person willing to invest in her. When meeting another dog, Percy was nervous and often leaned on her handler for comfort. Because she's still gaining confidence, she may do best as the only dog in the home for now. If there is a resident dog, a dog-to-dog meet is required to ensure they're a good match. Due to her timid nature, a home without young children is recommended so she can continue building confidence at her own pace. Percy may start out shy, but underneath is a loving young dog ready to blossom with kindness, patience, and encouragement.
