She started life in an outdoor colony of cats, but her past experiences with kind-hearted but inexperienced humans left her deeply wary of human touch. Because of this, even after a year with an experienced foster mom, she still prefers a relationship on her own terms and is uncomfortable being touched or held. She will, however, lick Churu treats from the hands of a trusted human friend and enjoy the company of humans at a respectful distance.Johnnie Mae is looking for someone special, someone who understands that a relationship with a cat doesn’t always mean cuddles and purrs. Sometimes, it is about loving the cat for who she is, enjoying time together in the same room, and sharing predictable routines while watching her enjoy the cozy indoor life.Your reward will be a slowly growing relationship with a beautiful girl who appreciates your respect for her. Since Salsa came along, Johnnie Mae has enjoyed racing around the house with him and then sprawling out together on the living room carpet. Other favorite activities are watching squirrels from the window or curling up on a high perch where she can judge—oops, I mean observe—what goes on below.Salsa is a young gray tabby who is still more kitten than cat. He is the yin to Johnnie Mae’s yang, demanding frequent cuddles with lots of purrs and making biscuits on his humans every night. Salsa has enough energy to play for hours with Johnnie Mae and still have plenty left over for a good session with the wand toy or a crinkle ball.Both Johnnie Mae and Salsa love other cats. Johnnie is polite and understands how to integrate seamlessly and respectfully into a group of cats. Salsa, on the other hand, forces other cats to “love” him and sometimes gets a swat in return. He is learning, though, thanks to Johnnie Mae’s expertise as a big sis. Both cats are very comfortable with respectful dogs, too. Salsa wants to play with them, and Johnnie Mae prefers just to chill in their presence.Do you have shy-cat experience? If so, you may be the purrfect human for these two.
