Description

Meet Levi! He is a 3 year old, 40lb, mix of hound/beagle and maybe a little dachshund with a big heart for the people he knows. We originally adopted him from a foster through DPA who had rescued him from the streets and a poor previous situation with inconsistent love, care, and attention. Levi is as playful or calm as he needs to be depending on the mood you’re in; he’s more than happy to zoom around a yard with his toys but can also can sleep next to you on the couch for hours. He’s happy to cuddle, play, and give his share of kisses to people he knows, he enjoys playing with other dogs, but seems to want to go after cats more than they would like him to. A good home for Levi would be one that has the ability to provide the time and attention that is needed with any new visitors/people, as this is Levi’s one concern. Levi is house trained, with no issues across multiple months being out during the day; lots of sleeping on his couch bed! He is also crate trained for sleeping at night, leash trained, and has no bathroom issues. He knows sit, shake, down, and can “stay” before food/treats/toys. Levi loves his walks and sunbathing in the grass, although he seemed disinterested with any water hose or the pool. Levi would pick a leisurely stroll or smaller outing compared to a busier, more crowded outing. We are making the tough decision to rehome Levi due to his fear & reactivity towards new people. There’s some barking and fear with new people he encounters; likely due to his past. He is not fond of new people coming through the door, and with a growing family we would be unable to provide the attention necessary to be ready for potential visitors coming through our door and having him put away. It is unfortunate that his reactivity is his only concern as otherwise he is a sweet & lovable pup. Levi deserves a home that can give him the love, attention, and care as he continues to grow out of his fear and concern from his previous experiences, but has been extremely comfortable being in our home. The squirrel chasing, toy shaking, and cuddling make it a tough decision to rehome him, but we hope someone is able to help Levi past that last step to being comfortable with anyone he meets. Adopt Levi and he will reciprocate all the love and attention you provide him!
