Description

Rumi is a beautiful older tabby kitten with a lot of personality and a strong sense of personal space. She thrives in a calm, respectful environment and forms wonderful bonds with people who understand feline boundaries. When she feels safe and comfortable, she is affectionate, engaging, and truly a fantastic companion.Rumi recently spent a couple of weeks with a new foster parent for a break from the adoption center. They had this to say about her: "Rumi is a very cuddly cat! Though a bit shy at first, she warms up in no time. After just six hours she was laying next to me comfortably. After two days she was making biscuits. After four days she was purring in my lap. She loves cat tunnels, plain ol' string, and the occasional laser pointer. She gets zoomies in the evening, but adapts quickly to morning wake up routines. She's fascinated by the shower and going between the curtains especially" Rumi does best with people who understand and respect cat body language and who are willing to let her set the pace for interaction. She enjoys affection on her terms and appreciates a quieter, lower-stress home environment.Because of her personality, Rumi would do best in a home without young children and would likely be happiest with calm, respectful animals or as an only pet. We are cautious about homes with dogs, as fast-paced or overly pushy interactions would likely be stressful for her.Rumi is not the kind of kitten who wants constant handling, but for the right person, she will be an incredibly rewarding companion. She’s independent, smart, expressive, and happiest with someone who appreciates her for exactly who she is.
