Description
Oppie is a two year old neutered male cat but we understand if you mistake him for a kitten. He is up to date on vaccines. He does well with other cats. Oppie has a food allergy that is managed by eating a prescription diet for food sensitivies. Here’s what foster volunteers who have cared for him say: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Oppie is the kind of sweet and adorable you really need to experience for yourself. His photos and descriptions are all lovely, but he really shines in person. Just a little sweetie pie. The cutest little meow when he talks to you. Playful, cuddly, follows you around like a shadow. Does the cat enjoy being pet? If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? YES, he loves to be pet on the top of the head and along his back. Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? He does not like his belly or his face being touched. Does the cat come on your lap? While he doesn't technically get all the way in the lap, he likes to cuddle up to your side and snuggle his way into your armpit. He also likes to be the little spoon during snuggling. Does the cat like to be held? He prefers to hold you than for you to hold him. When you pick him up, he'll politely squirm until you put him down. Does the cat sleep in your bed? Yes, he's happiest when he's cuddled up to you! Does the cat seek your attention? YES. He loves to interact and is a true companion cat. Only adopt him if you want a best friend. Does the cat like to play? What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Yes he loves to play. His favorite toys are his wand toys and his 3-way tunnel. How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make? He likes to meow at night but is not the most vocal cat. He has a cute , high-pitched little meow. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? If no, please explain. Yes, he likes the sisel type especially. Since he's so small, he can get a good stretch on most vertical scratchers. Does the cat always use the litter box? If no, please explain. Yes, but sometime he may leave unwanted bits outside of the litter box. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Is the cat picky about food? What is the cat's favorite treat? Oppie is eating his medicated cat food, 4 times a day. He is picky about his food. His favorite treat is his tiny spoonful of pumpkin puree. What medication is the cat on, and how is it administered? Oppie is currently on an antibiotic eye medication which needs to be administered and blinked onto his eyelids when he’s stressed (such as moving homes). He is also on prescription cat food, and when he uses gabapentin, we will mix it into his pumpkin puree. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? No Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Oppie will love bite when he's rubbing his head all over you. He's easily redirected not to repeat it. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? He's cautious but warms up to new people impressively quickly. If you have observed the cat with other animals, please describe how they get on? No but in his former home he lived happily with another cat and enjoyed its companionship, including cuddling and grooming one another. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? He follows the cursor on your computer screen and gets so confused as to why he can't grab it. His ears are SUPER expressive and point toward whatever he's' focusing on. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Oppie loves to cuddle and is the sweetest cat. If you would like a cat that is excited for bedtime so he can snuggle up next to you, then this is the cat to adopt. Seriously, if you think his photos are cute, he will melt your heart in person! What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? Oppie biggest challenge is his food allergy. He needs to eat his prescription diet exclusively, which means no sharing with other cats.
