Description
Meet Proof! Proof is a 1‑year‑old double‑mane Lionhead rabbit with a gentle soul and a quiet, cautious way of moving through the world. His story began in a heartbreaking place — he and his siblings were found early one morning under our ACO van, sitting in an open box with no one around. One of our vet techs discovered them when arriving for the day, and they were brought inside right away for safety and care.Proof is a shy rabbit who needs time, patience, and a calm environment to feel secure. New spaces and new people can be overwhelming for him, and he prefers to take things slowly, observing from a safe spot before deciding it’s okay to come closer. He came in with significant matting, likely from living outdoors without proper grooming. Thanks to the help of a local rabbit rescue, he’s already feeling much more comfortable. We’re still working through some of the remaining mats, and his future home may need to continue that gentle grooming to keep him healthy and pain‑free. He’s been very patient, even when he’s unsure.Once Proof feels safe, his soft personality begins to show — quiet curiosity, gentle movements, and a sweetness that feels like a small, hard‑won gift. He does well with cats and dogs, and he’s appropriate for kids who understand that rabbits cannot be picked up or handled roughly. He thrives best with people who let him set the pace and who appreciate the quiet, tender nature of a shy rabbit.Proof is ready for a home that can offer stability, kindness, and the slow, steady reassurance he needs to truly blossom. If you’re looking for a rabbit who will reward patience with trust, Proof is waiting for you.Proof's adoption fee is $25, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet!
