Description
Meet Jax — a 1‑year‑old snowshoe with a tender heart and a story that deserves a soft landing.Jax and his brother Opie came to us after their loving owner could no longer care for them. While the boys were bonded in their previous home, they’re handling shelter life very differently. Both started out shy but willing to accept gentle pets, yet the stress of being in a shelter — even briefly — can affect each cat in its own way.Jax has had a harder time adjusting. He doesn’t understand why he’s here or what changed, and that confusion shows in how shut down he can seem at first. He won’t give the best first impression, and he may hide or seem uninterested when you meet him. But we know from his first few days with us — and from his previous owner — that underneath that fear is a total cuddle bug who loves affection and enjoys playtime. And once he feels safe? Jax has a soft spot for catnip that’s downright adorable. A sprinkle of it or a catnip‑stuffed toy can help him relax, open up, and show that silly, sweet side he keeps tucked away.Jax is one of those cats who won’t “sell himself” in the shelter, but who will absolutely blossom in a patient, loving home. The scared and overwhelmed ones deserve the very best homes too, and Jax is ready for someone who can see past the stress and offer him the safety he needs to show his true, wonderful self.Jax's adoption fee is $25, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet!
