* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, July 11th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $750 Meet Scrunchie: The Toy Collector, Zoomie Champion, and Professional Bug Inspector!   If you've been searching for a young dog who will fill your home with laughter, adventure, and an endless supply of love, allow us to introduce Scrunchie! This adorable 6–8 month old, 25-pound Schnauzer mix is equal parts athlete, comedian, cuddle bug, and enthusiastic explorer. Life is simply more fun when Scrunchie is around.   Every Day Is an Adventure   Scrunchie wakes up each morning ready to celebrate a brand new day. Whether she's greeting you with happy kisses, proudly carrying one of her favorite toys, or bouncing with excitement for her morning walk, her joy is absolutely contagious. Her tail rarely stops wagging, and she's convinced every day should include games, adventures, and quality time with her favorite people.   She enjoys walks each day, followed by playtime, enrichment, and plenty of opportunities to stretch both her legs and her brain. She also appreciates the finer things in life— like warmed-up kibble with delicious toppers such as cottage cheese, turkey, beef, or freeze-dried treats!   Toy Lover Extraordinaire   One of Scrunchie's greatest loves is— well— pretty much all toys. Balls? Yes. Plushies? Absolutely. Rope toys? You bet. Squeaky toys? Those are her specialty! By bedtime, don't be surprised if every toy in the house has somehow migrated into the middle of the living room.   She's also a huge fan of stuffed Kongs, puzzle toys, and anything that lets her put her clever brain to work. In fact, she breezed through a Level 2 puzzle so quickly that she'll happily accept an even bigger challenge!   Curious About Everything   Outside is where Scrunchie's curious personality truly shines. Every walk is a new adventure filled with exciting smells, fascinating bugs to investigate, and opportunities to learn about the world. She especially loves visiting the park, sniffing every inch of the trail, and greeting other dogs. If another pup appears, chances are Scrunchie is already wagging her tail and hoping they'll become her new best friend.   The Ultimate Dog's Dog   Speaking of dogs...Scrunchie absolutely adores them. She's currently living with an older dog and has successfully convinced him that playtime is, in fact, the best part of every day. She would likely love having a playful canine sibling in her future home, though she'd also be happy as long as she has plenty of opportunities for dog friends and adventures.   She has also done well playing with children and loves making new four-legged friends wherever she goes.   Sweet, Silly, and Affectionate   At home, Scrunchie has an affectionate side that melts hearts. She likes being close to her people, follows you around to see what you're up to, and has recently discovered that sleeping beside her humans is pretty wonderful. One of her favorite morning traditions is helping you wake up with kisses— and she'll happily supervise breakfast preparation from start to finish.   After a fun walk, don't be surprised if she races down the hallway with a case of joyful zoomies before settling in for a nap.   A Smart Girl Still Learning   Like many smart adolescent pups, Scrunchie is still learning the ropes. She's making great progress with leash walking, house training, and building confidence. When she first arrived, stairs were absolutely terrifying, but with patience and encouragement, she's already conquered going down them and continues working on the climb back up.   Because she's still young, Scrunchie does best with appropriate chew toys and a little supervision when left alone. Give her a Nylabone, a stuffed Kong, or a puzzle toy, and she's one happy girl. Her forever family should be ready to continue teaching her good puppy manners as she grows into the amazing dog she's destined to become.   Her Perfect Home   Scrunchie's ideal home is one that enjoys an active lifestyle. She'd love a yard to romp around in, daily walks, lots of playtime, and people who appreciate just how smart she is. She would especially thrive with a family that enjoys training, enrichment games, and making their dog part of everyday life.
